Dayna has spent most of her adult life working and playing in multiple different industries in the Kootenay’s. From a young age, Dayna was interested in the design of the built world. She explored these interests through fine arts, fine woodworking, carpentry and landscaping until all roads pointed to furthering her professional life by returning to school to study Architectural Technologies in Calgary. Dayna came to Cover while completing her studies and was invited to stay as a Junior Architectural Technologist.

SHELLY MCKEE

With over 2 decades of experience in the field, Shelly has developed a wide range of skills from finely tuned technical knowledge to excellent communication skills. Shelly has an extensive background that involves the preparation of drawings for a wide spectrum of projects, including institutional, health care and multi-unit residential buildings. She first joined Cover after moving from Whitehorse, Yukon where she worked as a technologist for four years and before this the rest her career has been spent in Southern Ontario. Through her experience, Shelly has honed her skills in Revit and AutoCAD which has not only helped her accurately capture essential components of a detail, but she can also suggest technical corrections that can improve the buildings overall efficiency. Her favourite part of the job now is being part of a team that pulls everyone’s ideas together, from working with students, young architects, to seasoned architects, and support staff.

JEREMY DE WIT

Jeremy’s early work as a carpenter consisted of constructing residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. After receiving his Red Seal, his passion for better understanding the unity of construction and design led him to furthering his education at BCIT in Burnaby. There, he received his Diploma of Technology and bachelor’s degree in Architectural Science, a part of which, he was selected to complete in Ferrara, Italy. His knowledge of construction practices is exemplified in experiential design all the way through to life safety within his production and presentation of detailed and cohesive designs for residential, business, and assembly occupancies. A strong advocate in a wide spectrum of roles, Jeremy ensures all parties are satisfied from conceptual planning to post-occupancy.

Tyler is interested in analyzing buildings during the design phase to obtain a design that is functional and efficient. An advocate for sustainability, he is always seeking the best products for a project that will help the users and the environment. Tyler’s experience lies in multi-use buildings and affordable housing, incorporating strict design guidelines while assuring the users will benefit from the decisions made in the design phase. A strong communicator between client and consultants, he is effective at managing people and meeting deadlines. Tyler is passionate about ensuring all stakeholders are satisfied at every phase of the project.

Originating from Australia, Rafe brings a unique perspective to Canadian architecture and design. With a passion for thoughtful and intentional design, Rafe enjoys collaborating with clients, consultants, and colleagues alike to create designs that are tailored for their intended use and setting. His diverse portfolio spans across high end residential, educational, public, and commercial projects throughout Australia and Canada. From design, project management, detailing, and business development, Rafe demonstrates versatility and adaptability in his professional endeavors.
In his spare time Rafe enjoys being active, camping and spending time with his family.

RYAN DONKERSGOED

Ryan has a varied degree of past experiences that lends itself to the full appreciation of holistic and natural approaches to the modern built environment. He enjoys the collaborative nature of the design process and has a passion for the analytical development of simple, sustainable, and effective details. His background as a skilled tradesperson, coupled with experience in alternative practices, guides his intent and positions him to effectively translate clients needs into detailed design solutions. Ryan is currently pursuing his CPHC designation to better understand the intricacies of envelope details and the energy dynamics on enclosed habitable structures.
When Ryan is not at work, he is spending time with his wife and kids exploring the myriad of trails, boulders and waterways in the area, or tinkering within his own backyard.

THOMAS WLODARCZYK

Inspired by the rich culture and history of his native Montreal, Thomas is passionate about creating beautiful and unique residential, commercial, and public spaces. With a background in construction, carpentry, and timber framing, he has a comprehensive, hands-on understanding of a project’s full lifecycle, from concept to completion. Thomas excels at translating a client’s vision into reality, skillfully balancing aesthetics with functionality to navigate any obstacle in the building process. In his work, he crafts the perfect line. Outside of work, he chases it: carving down a mountain road on his motorcycle, across a wave on his surfboard, through deep powder on his splitboard, or by charting a course through the vast backcountry on foot. Thomas is also fluent in French and Polish.

SEAN HIGGINS

Sean earned his Diploma in Architecture and Engineering Technology from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. After honing his skills on Vancouver Island, he came back to his hometown of Nelson. Sean’s proficiency in modeling, coordination, and building science enhances Cover’s projects. He values the company’s focus on professional development as he works towards becoming an Architectural Technologist through AIBC. Apart from architecture, Sean serves as an auxiliary firefighter for the Nelson Fire Department. In his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, biking, skiing, and camping.
