Located in Nelson, BC, the SHARE Housing Initiative was launched by the Kootenay Christian Fellowship and fully funded by BC Housing. SHARE Housing Initiative provides 39 affordable housing units, along with a rooftop terrace, commercial spaces, and a meeting area for the Fellowship. The project features exterior walkways and a rooftop patio, fostering a sense of community within the complex, while ensuring direct access to downtown amenities. Built on a challenging site, it required innovative solutions for the building footprint, parking, fire lanes, and circulation, all of which contribute to the project’s unique character.

The design incorporated simple, yet refined materials that create an inviting space for residents grounded in community housing values. The project emphasizes inclusivity and collaboration, ensuring that residents feel connected and supported.

Amid rising rental and housing costs, the SHARE Housing Initiative has been a valuable addition to the Nelson community, and we are proud to have played a role in its development.
