selkirk college chemistry labs

Castlegar, BCTraditional Homelands: Ktunaxa, Syilx, and Sinixt Peoples

Originally constructed in 1966, the Selkirk College Chemistry Labs were in need of major renovation to meet changing needs and requirements. Cover met extensively with the user groups to collaborate on a design that was functional and contemporary. The renovation included the refurbishment of two labs and the adjacent office spaces, along with upgrading the electrical and mechanical services to meet the increased demand. Notable design features include the purpose-built millwork, interior design, playful colour accents complemented by wood, and practical hardwearing resilient surfaces. These improvements revitalized the spaces for the students and staff who use them every day.
