The Cottonwood Bandshell was designed to be a permanent fixture and great addition to the Farmers Market and Cottonwood Falls Park.

Conceptualized by the City of Nelson and the Nelson Izu-shi Friendship Society, the bandshell offers a flexible space that reflects the community of Nelson with its materiality and commitment to the arts. The tapered form was designed to enhance the acoustics for performers and formally reflect the surrounding mountains. The use of mass timber adds warmth to the design and integrates it with the park setting. The stage has become an well-loved feature of the Nelson community and the greater masterplan of the Railtown area.
