Bulmers Point, BCTraditional Homelands: Ktunaxa, Syilx, and Sinixt Peoples
Located on the shores of Kootenay Lake, the Bulmer’s Point Residence is beautifully complemented by its surroundings.
The cabin offers the practical traits of a beach house with hardwearing surfaces, an outdoor shower, and sliding doors off the living room and bedrooms for easy access to the lake. A screened outdoor entertaining area offers year-round flexibility and encourages outdoor cooking with its amenities. Pulling inspiration from the pebbled shores, the 10-foot-high rock wall runs the length of the residence, acting as a retaining wall to the hill above and as a design feature that you are in constant connection with it as you move throughout the space. The roof is angled to the south with high windows to capture natural light and bring additional warmth to the wooden interior finishes. Other notable features are the generous primary bedroom built around the existing stone wall and the purpose-built millwork throughout the home.
Capturing its views and drawing inspiration from its surroundings, the Bulmers Point Residence acts as an escape for its residence and encourages connection to the land it sits upon.
