Cover Architecture provided prime consulting services to carry the Nelson Ambulance Station building improvements through from Stage 1 Planning fully through to Stage 7 Post construction. The project included the implementation of measures identified in the feasibility report.

Having studied the Nelson Ambulance Station, its systems and functionality in order to produce the CBRE Life Cycle Extension Report in 2021, Cover Architecture was very familiar with the building. The scope of this work was established from the priorities identified from the report, and the estimated project costs were based on the class D estimate submitted by Cover Architecture in Jan 2022.

The upgrades involved major system modifications to the Ambulance station to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase thermal comfort. The scopes of work included a range of lifesafety, building performance and maintenance scopes including: mechanical and electrical fire stopping; exhaust system upgrade; new exit signage; replacement of overhead garage door, external doors, window, heat pumps; improved wall and roof insulation; new siding and building signage; and some internal fixture and finish improvements.
