Ymir, BCTraditional Homelands: Ktunaxa, Syilx, and Sinixt Peoples
The town of Ymir may be small, but it has a huge artistic community! This creativity and talent are put on display annually with the Tiny Lights Festival, organized by the Renascence Arts and Sustainability Society (RASS). The event attracts musical and performance artists to the remote community and helps to amplify the importance of rural arts. With their next big venture, RASS are now exploring the potential for a permanent venue within Ymir: the Arts Station. Designed to be flexible and to support different arts and community needs throughout the year, the building includes artist studios, an artist-in-residence dwelling, flexible performance and maker space, a gallery and commercial space, outdoor gathering, educational, and community spaces (that’s a lot of great uses!). Cover has been thrilled to work with RASS to help them with the Feasibility Study and Rezoning Application process. Keep an eye out for this awesome community project and future phases to come!
