burton community hall feasibility study
Burton, BCTraditional Homelands: Ktunaxa, Syilx, Sinixt, and Secwépemc Peoples
Talks of renovation to the space first began with a commitment to improving the accessibility of the Hall, looking to Universal Design principles to not only provide access but to promote equitable use by all members of the community. These improvements also brought about opportunities to expand on some of the most used aspects of the hall, including the potential for larger events, expanding the Fitness Centre, providing a library space for the community’s many books (that are currently not on display), support for the Technology Hub, and the creation of a more open and inviting place for the community to gather. This Feasibility Study helped the Burton Community Association narrow down their programming needs, visualize the potential for the existing building and site, and to develop fundraising goals for the future.
