A bright and calming office with inspiring shared working spaces.

Our design for this office prioritizes flexibility and collaboration, creating a variety of spaces that people can work, move between, and gather around throughout their day. The open concept kitchen is the hub of the office and expands to create a flexible space where people can eat, work, and socialise. The interior palette was inspired by the tones and textures of the natural world. Throughout the office, neutrals and warm woodgrains are accented by muted greens and energizing pops of yellow.

The base building presented a bit of a challenge for daylight penetration as only one wall of the suite contained windows. Our design responds by strategically grouping the enclosed private offices along the back wall of the suite and placing the shared working spaces along the windows at the outer wall. Acoustic features and environmental graphics were used to define the shared working areas, rather than solid walls, to create permeable open concept spaces that allow daylight to reach all parts of office.

We had a fun time designing the custom signage and wayfinding elements of this office. The signage design pulled from the project’s natural material pallet and introduces accents of warm wood throughout the office. Accessibility is a priority in all our projects and as such, all signage was designed with reference to CSA standards for accessibility. The environmental graphics were another method of aiding wayfinding throughout the office and are used to designate the shared working areas and create privacy screens on the glass doors of the enclosed offices. The graphics were designed in collaboration Louis Fortier Graphic Design and depict the local flora of the Okanagan valley.
